Truly. Self-publishing, and new media more broadly, has done a lot to democratize what gets published. Which is nice — because traditional media, from journalism to film to short stories, hasn't been meeting market demands for years. Now that people have more options and outlets — that's what the market's choosing. Be that "more drive-in theaters showing local indie films," or "short, campy pulp fiction in anthologies."
Fascinating stuff. It's clear that stories with an audience can easily be transferred to new media.
